AddArt is a Firefox extension which replaces advertising images on web pages with art images from a curated database.
"The concept is inspired by the popular Adblock add-on which removes ads from web pages. The main difference between the two is that AddArt will not just block ads, it will replace them with new images - images created by artists."
It is currently in prototype-mode but hopefully it will be functional soon.

How about filling the add spaces with a blank image instead, want that!

Go beyond the functional and think of artistic spaces online. Responses to daily news everywhere else online, from opinions to artwork. What is more direct to show the art next to the cause? Compare with physical space. Galleries, 'andere'media, street-art? Remember Space 3 putting up TAG posters? http://www.space3.nl/v1/html/19.html . So rather create a blank image to be filled.
